Using the Diagnostic

Editing and modifying a diagnostic

A diagnostic is a point-in-time assessment, but it is not locked. You can polish the wording of a finished report at any time, and — on the right plan — reopen the wizard to change what you asked and generate a fresh report. The two paths behave differently, so it helps to know which one you are using.

Refining the report text is always free

On the report itself you can edit the executive summary and challenge diagnosis inline, rename the report, and add your own interpretation before you share it. These edits change only the wording you touch, are saved with the diagnostic, and never use an allowance. This is the right tool when the analysis is sound and you simply want to sharpen how it reads — the related article on interpreting the report covers how these inline edits work.

Modifying reopens the wizard and regenerates

When the inputs themselves were off — a vague challenge, the wrong focus areas, or context that has since changed — editing the text is not enough. Modify diagnostic reopens the original diagnostic in the wizard so you can change any answer and generate a completely new report from the corrected inputs. Because this runs the full diagnostic again, it works like creating a diagnostic: it uses one diagnostic credit from your plan allowance.

Who can modify a diagnostic

Reopening the wizard to modify a diagnostic is available on the monthly and yearly subscription plans. One-time diagnostic purchases do not include it — a one-time report can still be refined inline for free, but not regenerated from new inputs. If you expect to iterate on diagnostics regularly, a subscription is the better fit; compare the plans on the pricing page.

The credit is spent when you confirm

Cogliva always warns you before it uses a credit. When you choose Modify diagnostic, a confirmation shows how many diagnostics you have left this cycle and lets you cancel and go back to your list, or continue. The credit is consumed only at the moment you confirm — nothing is charged if you cancel. Editing the report text directly is unaffected and remains free.

When your allowance is used up

If you have no diagnostics left for the cycle, modifying is paused rather than silently failing. Cogliva shows when your allowance next refreshes so you can wait for the new cycle, and offers the option to upgrade for more capacity now. Your existing diagnostics stay available to read, refine inline, and export in the meantime.

How to use this in Cogliva

  1. To reword a report, edit it inline on the report page — this is always free.
  2. To change what you asked, use Modify diagnostic on the diagnostics list to reopen the wizard; confirm to use one credit.
  3. Cancel the confirmation if you did not mean to regenerate — no credit is used.
  4. If you are out of diagnostics, wait for the next cycle shown in the prompt or upgrade on the [pricing](/pricing) page.
