Strategic Signals

What are Strategic Signals?

Strategy does not happen in a vacuum. Regulation shifts, competitors move, technology changes, and customer behaviour evolves. Strategic Signals helps you decide what external change matters for your organisation and then keep watch on it in a structured, repeatable way.

What counts as a signal

A signal is any external development that could validate, threaten, or reshape your strategy — a new regulation or standard, a competitor move, a technology or AI shift, a supply-chain disruption, a change in customer behaviour, a talent trend, or a reputational event. On its own a single headline is just noise; a signal is a headline that matters to your specific situation.

Strategic Signals exists to make that distinction for you. Instead of scanning everything and hoping something useful surfaces, you register what matters once, and Cogliva keeps a finger on the pulse — watching the topics you care about and surfacing the developments worth your attention.

What it does

Strategic Signals reads the context you already hold in Cogliva — your organisation, industry, geography, business model, priorities, and diagnostic findings — and produces a signal profile: a focused set of monitoring topics, grouped keywords, and ready-to-use search queries across the categories that matter to you.

  • Translates business context into clear monitoring topics, each with a reason it is relevant and a priority.
  • Groups keywords and builds Boolean queries you can paste into alerting tools.
  • Suggests source types and monitoring tools, and recommends a digest rhythm.
  • Scans on a schedule and on demand, then surfaces matching developments as alerts scored by relevance.

Why it matters

Most teams either watch nothing systematically or drown in noise. Strategic Signals creates the intelligence layer in between: a deliberate, prioritised view of what to monitor, grounded in your actual strategy rather than generic news feeds.

How it fits the Cogliva workflow

A diagnostic frames the problem, the Strategy Designer decides the direction, and tactical plans make it executable. Strategic Signals keeps that thinking alive over time by watching for the external changes that could validate, threaten, or reshape your strategy.

Honest scope

Strategic Signals is the intelligence layer for external change. It defines what to monitor, generates the exact queries to use, and surfaces matching developments as alerts. It is not a claim to monitor the entire web, and it does not replace your own scanning and judgment.

How to use this in Cogliva

  1. Open Signals from the left-hand menu inside the app.
  2. Generate a signal profile from an organisation or from general business context.
  3. Review the topics and queries, then set a digest rhythm that fits your cadence.
  4. Use the alerts inbox to triage what comes in and feed it back into your strategy.
