Strategy & Tactical Plans
Importing an existing strategy document
Many organizations already have strategy material — a board-approved strategy PDF, an annual strategy presentation, a transformation roadmap, or a strategic plan in Word. In the Business Strategy Designer you can import such a document so Cogliva can extract its strategic context and help pre-fill your inputs, instead of retyping everything by hand.
Where to find it
Open the Business Strategy Designer from a completed diagnostic and go to the Context step. Choose 'Yes, I want to add more context' and you'll see the import card. The diagnostic must be completed first, because it provides the baseline Cogliva reasons from.
Supported files
- PDF (.pdf) and Word (.docx / .doc) documents.
- Up to 10MB per file.
- Best results come from real strategy material — board strategies, strategic plans, annual strategy decks, or transformation roadmaps.
Easy mode vs Advanced mode
After Cogliva analyzes the document, you choose how to apply what it found.
- Easy mode adds the extracted context into your existing free-form context fields (ambitions, constraints, facts, and notes), without overwriting anything you already typed.
- Advanced mode opens a full set of structured fields — industry, business model, products and services, customer segments, markets, strategic priorities and goals, growth ambitions, transformation themes, competitive positioning, key challenges and risks, KPIs, time horizon, initiatives, mission, vision, values, and assumptions — each pre-filled from the document and individually editable before you apply.
What gets extracted — and what doesn't
Cogliva only maps information that is actually present in your document. It does not invent facts or add generic filler. Anything it can't find is listed as 'Not found' so you know exactly what was and wasn't picked up. If the file doesn't contain meaningful strategy content, Cogliva tells you and applies nothing.
Evidence, not the baseline
Imported content is treated as user-provided evidence. Your completed diagnostic remains the baseline source of truth. Cogliva uses the diagnostic to interpret the document, confirm agreement, and flag possible conflicts — for example where the document points to a different main challenge or direction. Conflicts are surfaced for you to review; they are never silently resolved or allowed to override the diagnostic. This keeps Cogliva a strategy reasoning engine rather than a document summarizer.
Where your file is stored
The document and its metadata are stored privately and scoped to your account, so only you can access what you upload. Importing is available on the Professional Advisor and Enterprise plans.
How to use this in Cogliva
- Complete the diagnostic first so Cogliva has a reliable baseline.
- In the Context step, upload your strategy document.
- Review the import summary — fields found, fields not found, and any conflicts with your diagnostic.
- Pick Easy mode for a quick start or Advanced mode to review and edit each field, then apply.
- Continue the wizard and generate; the imported context flows in alongside the diagnostic.
