Voice dictation in Ask Liva

When you are thinking out loud, typing gets in the way. Ask Liva can turn what you say into text right where you would otherwise write, so you can capture a first pass by voice and then let Liva help you shape it.

Where to find it

Open Ask Liva on any field. The Original panel — the left panel where the current text lives — has a microphone button. Click it and start speaking; the transcript appears in the same panel as you go. Your browser will ask for microphone permission the first time.

Speech to a well-formed draft

Dictated text is rarely ready to use as-is. That is where the quick actions come in: after you finish speaking, pick an action such as Clean up, Fix grammar, Make it clearer, or Make it more strategic — optionally with a short custom instruction — and press Generate. Liva returns a cleaned suggestion on the right that you can compare with your dictated original before you insert or replace.

Reliable capture from the first word

The dictation warms the microphone up before recording starts, so the first words of what you say are not clipped. If you get an unexpected result, check that the correct microphone is selected in your browser and try again in a quieter environment.

Privacy

Only the transcript is used by Ask Liva to help you draft — the audio itself is not retained after transcription. The same principle of human review applies: read the suggestion, edit it, and only then insert it into your work. See how Cogliva uses user inputs for the broader picture.

How to use this in Cogliva

  1. Open Ask Liva on a field and click the microphone in the Original panel.
  2. Speak your first draft; watch the transcript appear.
  3. Pick a quick action such as Clean up or Make it clearer, add an optional instruction, and press Generate.
  4. Compare the suggestion with your dictated text and insert, replace, or append when you are happy.
