Trusted devices and sensitive-area verification
On top of standard two-factor authentication, Cogliva has two conveniences that keep security tight without getting in the way: trusted devices, which reduce how often you are asked for a code, and step-up verification, which asks for a fresh code the moment you enter a sensitive area.
Remember this device
When you complete 2FA on sign-in you can tick “Remember this device”. Cogliva stores a signed cookie in that browser and skips the 2FA prompt on the same browser for the next seven days. Signing in from a different browser, a different device, or after clearing cookies always asks for a code again.
Step-up verification for sensitive areas
Opening Account settings prompts you for a fresh 6-digit code even if you signed in earlier that session. This step-up keeps a stolen or unattended session from being used to change passwords, reset 2FA, or export data.
Managing trust
- Sign out to end the current session; the trusted-device window still applies to future sign-ins on that browser until it expires.
- Regenerate recovery codes or reset your authenticator from Account settings — both are protected by step-up verification.
- If a device is lost, change your password and reset 2FA from a trusted browser; this invalidates existing trust on other devices.
How to use this in Cogliva
- Only tick “Remember this device” on browsers and machines you personally control.
- Expect a fresh 2FA prompt whenever you open Account settings.
- Reset 2FA and revoke trust if a device is lost or shared.
